Grocery List 2012

I just spent a ridiculous amount of time redesigning my grocery list on the wall in my kitchen. I have it drawn, but now I don’t know what to write in it.

Our next apartment had better let me go crazy with my chalkboard paint again! Paper lists are so 2011.

I’m finally getting the designs finished on the sites. I cannot WAIT until I don’t have any more redesigns on my list.

…that’s a lie. I <3 redesigns, but I have too much other stuff to do!

I love peeking at other people’s office areas. I am possibly the most disorganized person ever in life, but I am easily inspired when it comes to office organizational tools… Love live office supply addictions!

(That’s Sophia Bush in her office, by the way!)

We’re moving this year, and I highly doubt we’ll find this kind of view (Space Needle & the sound!) within our budget! Definitely going to extra-enjoy the next several months…

Happy 2012, Seattle!

We have nice weather. Momentarily, anyway… Next week, they’re predicting snow, which, for Seattle, means rapid-onset agoraphobia, ridiculous driving tactics, grocery hoarding and other generally pre-apocalyptic behaviors.

…but at least the sun is out for now. Right?

This week marks the official destruction of vacation. “Destruction” because it feels like my vacation was brutally ripped from my loving hands only to leave me stranded (untrue), lonely (also untrue) and desperate (…ehhh…) under the cruel reign of “real world.”

Fortunately, winter is an excellent month for music! Some of the best music is listened to in winter. Artists such as Yann Tiersen, Rufus Wainwright and The Tallest Man on Earth have been staples in my house. Once it’s snowing, I fully intend on busting out the Takk… album from Sigur Ros. Best snow music ever. Don’t believe me? Try it. Nonbelievers will be converted.

Necessary life update and mostly unecessary music harvest info: complete.

How are you??

New Year’s Resolutions (TEA!) & Handmade (Food) Gifts

First day back to work since before the holidays, and I’m starting in on my “DRINK MORE TEA!” resolution for 2012. The copious Gunpowder tea matched up nicely with the copious rainfall that Seattle is getting right now.

The house was a disaster when I got home, which is not surprising. I’ve been gone for two weeks and prior to that I was running about madly finishing the last of my Christmas presents. This year, Whim and I made coffee syrups from scratch using as many organic and local ingredients as possible.

We came up with lavender (from Sequim, WA) syrup, chai syrup, and vanilla. We also experimented with a salted caramel sauce and a gingerbread syrup that turned out okay and decent, respectively, but didn’t wow us enough to be included.

This week, I will be cleaning furiously, and probably trying to detox some of the insane food I’ve eaten over the last two weeks!

How were your holidays?

Meet: My Future Dishes

Meet: my future dish collection. I’m completely in love with this collection in all three colors! Want: to mix & match my entire cupboard with Sophie Conran for Portmeirion!

I love the handmade feel of the pottery – and the color is perfect! My kitchen’s color palette is this light, minty blue (“Celadon”), black, chrome, and white with dark wood accents – this would be PERFECT! (The pitcher from this collection is one of my favorites:

The “serveware” (still not sure how I feel about that word) is my favorite part – I’d definitely mix up the colors here!

Roasting dish.

Butter dish.

I’m over the moon!
